Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a true float position across multiple campuses, requiring 4 years of ICU experience and a California RN license.

Details

  • ICU setting with float responsibilities across three campuses located about 15 minutes apart, connected by shuttle transport
  • Rotating 3x12 day/night shifts (0700-1930 / 1900-0730)
  • No on-call requirements, but weekend rotation is required
  • Travelers may be scheduled at different campuses per shift, with two hours notice given prior to start time
  • Mid-shift floating between campuses is rare

Requirements

  • Active California RN license required
  • Current BLS (AHA), ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum of 4 years of ICU experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central and PICC line care, and blood product administration
  • Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and airway suctioning (ETT, NT)
  • Experience managing renal failure patients and CRRT/CVVHD required
  • Skilled in titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips and administering continuous IV sedation or paralytics
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG interpretation
  • Experience with neurological care including EVD, ICP monitoring, and post-neurosurgical management
  • Knowledge of infection prevention practices and isolation precautions/PPE
  • Experience in Surgical or Neuro ICU settings preferred
  • Cardiovascular skills such as ECMO, IABP, Impella, TAVR, and VAD management preferred
  • Two supervisor references obtained within the past year required for consideration
  • Must provide a 7-year work history with possible verification documentation

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive critical care nursing across multiple ICU campuses as part of a true float pool
  • Local candidates accepted at local rate within a 50-mile radius
  • Returning employees must have a one-year separation before being eligible to return as travelers
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only one holiday request allowed
  • Holiday coverage includes New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas
  • Must complete lab work within 3-5 days of contract signing
  • Compliance documents due 10 days prior to start date
  • Only allowed to apply to one Sutter Health facility at a time
  • First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
