Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift acute care role requiring CA licensure and 2+ years of telemetry experience.

Details

• Acute care Surgical Telemetry unit with 47 beds
• Patient population includes post-op surgical patients not requiring higher level of care, including bariatric, ortho, and spine cases, along with general tele patients
• Patient ratios of 1:4 for telemetry and 1:5 for MedSurg
• Nurse aide ratios of 1:12 days and 1:14 nights
• Charge nurse does not carry a patient assignment; a resource RN may also be available
• 12-hour night shifts (1830-0700 and 0630-1900)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required to MedSurg 6, Tele 7 (within skill set), and Rehab, with travelers first to float
• Uses Cerner EMR
• Hospitalist/intensivist in house, RT and Pharmacy available 24/7
• No IV team on unit
• Vents not used, though bipap/cpap may be used at night
• Nurses responsible for reading telemetry strips
• Manages Heparin and blood drips

Requirements

• Active CA RN license (Standard or Compact) required, pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• Telemetry and MedSurg experience required
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a busy surgical telemetry unit
• One shift of floor-specific orientation provided with a preceptor
• Holiday coverage required on a rotating basis with core staff
• Scrub color requirement: Navy Blue for RNs
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year
• Candidates previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
