Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring 2 years of experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Med/Surg Tele unit with 36 beds and a 1:6 patient ratio
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45-07:15
• Every other weekend required
• Must be willing to float to all areas holding Med-Surg patients
• Uses Epic and Pyxis systems
• 24-hour unit orientation

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required, pending license accepted at submission
• BLS certification required, NIH required
• OCN and Chemo Administration certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required
• Strong Med-Surg background required for floating
• Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy including blood product administration, central line care/management, peripheral line care/management, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring including interpretation of dysrhythmias and use of Rapid Response/Code teams; management of dysrhythmias preferred
• Skilled in respiratory care including nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management
• Skilled in isolation precautions/PPE
• Telemetry work setting experience preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to Med-Surg Tele patients including cardiac monitoring and emergency response as needed
• Navy scrubs required
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• RTO of 7 days or less can be auto-approved as long as it does not fall on a holiday; no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted within 50 miles at a lower rate
• Travel pairs allowed if on different units and disclosed at submission
• Former Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before applying, with hospital name and dates of employment disclosed for facility approval
• Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between travel or per diem status
