Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a NICU position requiring 2 years of specialty experience and Epic proficiency for a 13-week night shift assignment.

Details

• NICU and Newborn Nursery combined unit within a hospital setting
• Average daily census of 10 patients
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45-07:15)
• Occasional floating to postpartum/peds units
• Every other weekend required (2-4 shifts per 4-week schedule)
• No on-call requirements
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active compact or LA RN license required in hand upon consideration
• BLS, NRP, and CPI certifications required
• AHA certifications required
• 2 years of NICU specialty experience required
• Current NURSYS report required (within 4 weeks of submission)
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Skilled in IV therapy, UAC/UVC management, and neonatal medication administration
• Experience with APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, and phototherapy
• Experience with neonates across gestational ages including <24-28 weeks and 29-34 weeks

Additional Information

• Attend high-risk deliveries and conduct car seat testing
• Handle newborn diagnoses for both NICU and well-baby populations
• Provide developmental care and support patient/family teaching
• Support breastfeeding and manage various feeding methods including gavage
• Manage neonatal abstinence syndrome and assist with sepsis work-ups
• May involve therapeutic hypothermia and high-frequency ventilation support
• First-time travelers will be considered
• Must live more than 65 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Two Manager/Supervisor references (not Charge RNs) required prior to starting contract, though not required for initial consideration
• Previous permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a one-year separation from the health system before returning as a traveler
• All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed on profile and discussed during interview
• Orientation held five days a week
• Must be willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
