Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 1 year of ED experience and multiple certifications including ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC.

• General Emergency Department serving combined adult and pediatric patients
• Level I and Level II Trauma Center, STEMI Certified, and Stroke Certified facility
• 1:4 patient ratio
• Evening shift, 3x12-hour shifts (1p-1a)
• Every other weekend required, with 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule cycle
• Major holiday coverage required based on department's assigned holiday
• On-call required as needed
• Float required to all 4 facility locations (Holmes, Viera, Cape Canaveral, Palm Bay)
• EPIC EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active FL or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC
• CPI certification preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Prior large hospital acute care experience required
• Skills required: IV therapy/phlebotomy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, starting and maintaining IVs
• Respiratory skills required: BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patients, ABG interpretation
• Medication administration skills required: continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, procedural sedation monitoring
• Neurological care skills required: CVA, ICP monitoring, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury
• Trauma care experience required: gunshot wounds, traumatic amputation, head injury, near drowning, spinal cord injury
• Cardiac monitoring skills required: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Isolation precautions/PPE and triage skills required
• Orthopedic trauma experience required
• Two supervisory references (Manager, Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or Director) dated within the past year required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care across a wide range of trauma, pediatric, cardiac, neurological, and orthopedic cases
• Flu vaccine required during flu season (10/31-3/31) with medical or religious exemptions only
• Scrubs must be solid-colored with matching top and bottom, no logos or prints (self-provided or facility-provided)
• Finalized RTO must be submitted at time of consideration; RTO requests after offer are not accepted
• Contracted hours are guaranteed
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Former Health First employees or contracted staff must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
• Local candidates are accepted at the same travel rate with no radius restriction
• Travel pairs are permitted with unit leader approval, though matching schedules are not guaranteed
