Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Pediatric ICU position requiring 2+ years of PICU experience and BLS/PALS certification.
Details
- General Pediatric ICU setting
- Patient ratio of 1:2-3
- Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
- Blocked schedules available: Fri/Sat/Sun or Sat/Sun/Mon
- Schedule will fit the needs of the unit, including rotating shifts
- Cerner charting system preferred but not required
- Mandatory floating required, including Patient Observer/Sitter duties across the organization
- On-call availability required
Requirements
- Active MO or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- BLS and PALS certifications required
- TNCC certification preferred but not required
- Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Previous charge experience preferred
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood and blood products
- Experience with arterial line management, central line care, and PICC line management
- Proficient in pediatric dosage calculations and administration of emergency medications including antiarrhythmics and IV vasopressors
- Respiratory skills required including ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care
- Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry monitoring
- Ability to ambulate, reach, and move objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs
Additional Information
- Care for critically ill pediatric patients in a fast-paced ICU environment
- Facility operates 24/7, 365 days a year, requiring flexibility for rotating shifts and inclement weather coverage
- Required to work at least 50% of holidays occurring during the contract
- Maximum RTO of 10 days, with none permitted during the first week due to orientation
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Travelers residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for consideration
- Travelers residing 51-74 miles away may be offered at a local rate
- Routine contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses should be expected
- Non-billable training modules (4-6 hours) completed during orientation and annually
