Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Neuro RN for a day shift position requiring NIHSS certification and prior Med/Surg Neuro experience.

Details

• 32-bed Medical Surgical Neuro unit
• Day shift schedule (4x12 hours, 6:30 AM-7:00 PM)
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:6
• Rapid response team activation duties
• No on-call requirements
• Floating to like units within scope as needed with brief orientation provided
• Weekend requirement of 6 shifts within a 6-week period
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active RN license (NM or Compact) required, pending license accepted if obtained prior to start
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required; CPI certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg Neuro experience required
• First-time travelers accepted with minimum 24 months of nursing experience
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
• Respiratory care skills including chest tubes, HFNC, and oxygen administration
• Experience with CVA and neurological/psychiatric care preferred
• Medication administration experience including Heparin, Insulin, and PCA
• Wound care and isolation precautions/PPE experience
• Renal and dialysis management experience
• Surgical drain management experience

Additional Information

• Care for a mixed Med/Surg Neuro patient population including CVA cases
• Facility is part of a larger health system that includes a specialty heart hospital
• Onsite orientation modules required, averaging 4-6 hours for RNs
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as locals are not accepted
• Previous staff members must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Maximum of 4 days RTO can be auto-approved at time of submission
• No travel pairs or groups accepted for this position
