Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a PICU/NICU night shift position at a children's hospital, requiring L&D and PICU experience.

Details

• Children's hospital setting with home unit assigned to NICU, PICU, or Peds upon arrival
• Primary assignment in L&D with additional coverage across PICU, NICU, and Peds units
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required to PICU, NICU, and Peds units, and possibly to an affiliate hospital nearby
• Cerner charting system preferred

Requirements

• Active RRT certification through NBRC
• ACLS and BLS certification required
• NRP certification required
• PALS certification preferred
• Indiana state license required (temporary license accepted if application for permanent license is in progress); license required if applicable
• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
• L&D experience required
• Children's hospital experience within the last 3 years required (candidates from Level I adult trauma facilities may be considered)
• Education must be accredited by CoARC and regionally accredited by CHEA
• 2 supervisor references required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory care to critically ill pediatric and neonatal patients across PICU, NICU, and L&D settings
• Perform ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Administer medications via various delivery systems including MDIs, nebulizers, and aerosol setups
• Perform airway management including suctioning, extubation, and tracheostomy care
• Interpret arterial blood gases as part of clinical assessment
• Utilize specialized equipment such as the Servo U ventilator
• Work as part of a pediatric critical care team
• First-time travelers accepted
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• RTO of 5 days or less can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
• Former IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Current or past IU Health travelers with 12+ months of travel employment must take a consecutive eligibility reset break (3 months for out-of-state residents, 6 months for in-state residents)
• Indiana residents are considered local but are not accepted for this position type at the standard travel rate
