Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a high-acuity Labor & Delivery unit requiring an active AZ or compact RN license and at least 3 years of specialty experience.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit within a Level III, Trauma Level I hospital setting
• Also covers Antepartum, LDRP, and Mother/Baby patient populations
• Patient ratio of 1-2 couplets
• Facility performs more than 300 births per month
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 to 19:00
• Minimum of 3 weekend shifts per month required (Saturday/Sunday)
• No on-call requirements
• Occasional floating to Postpartum within scope of practice
• Epic charting experience preferred but not required

Requirements

• Active AZ or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of consideration
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate
• Preferred certifications: AWHONN Advanced, C-EFM, and RNC-OB
• Minimum 3 years of high-acuity Labor & Delivery experience required; 2 years considered if from a teaching or high-risk facility
• Trauma Level I experience required
• First-time travelers considered only with 5+ years of experience
• Skilled in sterile speculum and vaginal exams, NST, EFM, and IUPC placement/calibration
• Experienced in recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Proficient in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood and blood products
• Experienced in assisting high-risk and vaginal deliveries, C-section circulation, and forceps/vacuum extraction
• Skilled in postpartum care including vaginal delivery, cesarean section, couplet care, multiple births, hemorrhage, and pregnancy-induced hypertension
• Experienced in neonatal care including cord care, newborn assessment, hypoglycemia management, and discharge teaching
• Knowledgeable in epidural/general anesthesia and pain management
• Experienced with isolation precautions, PPE, and vaccine administration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn stages
• Assist with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, C-section circulation, and emergency interventions such as hemorrhage or shock management
• Support neonatal transition and care within a Level III L&D setting
• Perform patient education including car seat safety, breastfeeding support, and circumcision care
• Holiday RTO requests reviewed on a case-by-case basis
• Local candidates accepted, but must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel rate
