Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a high-acuity, Level III unit requiring 3+ years of L&D experience and AWHONN Intermediate certification.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit within an Antepartum, LDRP, and Mother/Baby care environment
• Level III L&D at a Trauma Level I facility
• Patient ratio of 1-2 couplets
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
• Weekend requirement of minimum 3 shifts per month (Saturday/Sunday)
• No on-call responsibilities
• Occasional floating to Postpartum within scope of practice
• Epic charting preferred but other EMR experience accepted

Requirements

• Active AZ or compact RN license required, must be in hand to apply
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate
• 3+ years of high-acuity L&D experience required; 2 years accepted if from a teaching or high-risk facility
• Trauma Level I experience required
• Skills required include sterile speculum and vaginal exams, NST, EFM/internal fetal monitoring, IUPC placement and calibration, and recognition of abnormal fetal heart patterns
• Experience with amnioinfusion, high-risk and vaginal deliveries, C-section circulation, forceps/vacuum extraction, and hemorrhage/shock management required
• Postpartum care experience including vaginal delivery, C-section, couplet care, multiple births, hemorrhage, and pregnancy-induced hypertension required
• Neonatal care skills required including cord care, newborn assessment, infant identification, and discharge teaching
• Experience with epidural/general anesthesia and pain management required
• Skilled in blood product administration, venous blood draws, IV starts, and infusion pump/drip management

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor, delivery, and postpartum stages, including high-risk deliveries and newborn care
• Support high-volume delivery unit with facility births exceeding 300/month
• Preferred certifications include AWHONN Advanced, C-EFM, and RNC-OB
• Preferred experience includes high-risk antepartum care, obstetrical triage, spiral electrode placement, and neonatal abstinence syndrome care
• First-time travelers considered only with 5+ years of experience
• Local candidates not accepted; must reside at least 75 miles from the facility
• Holiday RTO requests reviewed on a case-by-case basis
