Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring 3+ years of high acuity L&D experience and a Trauma Level I background.
Details
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
- Labor and Delivery unit with 1-2 couplet patient ratios
- Supports Antepartum, LDRP, and Mother/Baby patient populations
- Minimum of 3 weekend shifts per month required (Saturday/Sunday)
- No on-call requirements
- Occasional floating to PostPartum unit within scope of practice
- Epic charting preferred but other EMR experience accepted
Requirements
- Active RN license (AZ or Compact) required in hand to apply
- Minimum 3 years of high acuity L&D experience, or 2 years if in a teaching or high-risk facility setting
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate
- Trauma Level I facility experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required, though first-time travelers with 5+ years of experience will be considered
- Skilled in sterile speculum and vaginal exams, NST, EFM/IUPC monitoring, and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- Experienced in high-risk delivery assistance, C-section circulation, forceps/vacuum extraction, and hemorrhage/shock management
- Skilled in postpartum care including vaginal delivery, cesarean section, couplet care, multiple births, and hemorrhage management
- Experienced in neonatal care including cord care, newborn assessment, infant identification, and discharge teaching
- Proficient in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and infusion pump management
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, and postpartum nursing care in a high-acuity setting
- Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and complex antepartum procedures
- Deliver neonatal care immediately following birth, including newborn assessments and parent education
- Manage epidural, general anesthesia, and pain management protocols for laboring and postpartum patients
- Administer specialized medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and Terbutaline
- Facility performs over 300 births per month
- Holiday RTO requests reviewed on a case-by-case basis
- Local candidates accepted only if residing 75+ miles from the facility
