Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) role requiring 2 years of dedicated CVPICU experience and a DC RN license.

Details

• Work in the CVPICU of a Magnet-designated, teaching, Level I Pediatric Trauma Center
• 1:2 patient ratios
• Day (3x12, 7:00-19:30) and Night (3x12, 19:00-7:30) shifts with rotation every 3-4 weeks required
• Self-scheduling with every other weekend and every other holiday required
• No on-call requirements
• Float to other critical care units (NICU/PICU) as needed, all ages
• Uses Cerner charting system
• Facility will attempt to accommodate straight shifts but cannot guarantee or list this on the contract

Requirements

• Active DC RN license required, applied for within 24-48 hours of signing if pending; must be issued prior to start date
• MD/VA applicants may hold a compact or state license
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent, dedicated stand-alone CVPICU experience (floating does not count)
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skills in cardiovascular care including CVP monitoring, ECMO, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and post cardiac surgery care
• Respiratory skills including ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and suctioning
• Experience with central line care, arterial line management, and administration of blood products
• Experience with CRRT and acute/chronic renal failure management

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in a pediatric cardiovascular ICU setting
• Maximum 1 week RTO; full-week RTO requires making up missed shifts at the end of the assignment
• No RTO permitted after initial offer
• Pre-start training modules required prior to orientation, averaging 20+ hours and non-billable
• Scrubs may be any color but must be logo-free and child-friendly
• Local candidates accepted with no mileage restriction at the same bill rate
• First-time travelers accepted
• Returning travelers must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year
• A photo submission is required upon contract signature if offered and accepted
