Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring MD or compact licensure and prior travel assignment experience.

Details

• Float pool position covering Med/Surg and Telemetry units
• 1:6 patient ratio
• Day shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM-7:30 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Holidays as needed with no on-call responsibilities
• Float required within skillset and acuity level
• Cerner charting system experience required

Requirements

• Active RN license (MD or Compact) required
• Current certifications: BLS and NIHSS required; ACLS preferred
• 2 years of recent experience within the last 7 years required
• Must have completed at least 1 prior travel assignment
• Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment
• Must support at least 2 years of experience within the previous 3 years
• Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with a minimum 80% overall score and 100% on lethal rhythms
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, port access/management, blood product administration, and PICC line management
• Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, and tracheostomy management
• Experience in neurological care including CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, and traumatic brain injury
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and post-MI care
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with renal failure and pre/post hemodialysis management
• Previous charge experience preferred

Additional Information

• Flu vaccine required
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
• RTO limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract
• Nurses with previous employment at this health system must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
• Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a lower rate
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
