Description

American Traveler is hiring a PACU RN for a Level II Trauma Center, requiring at least 1 year of PACU experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in a 29-bay PACU spanning two floors within a Level II Trauma Center
• Care for pediatric (1 year+), adult, and geriatric patients undergoing same-day surgeries and in-patient admissions
• Recover patients from a wide range of procedures including vascular, general, robotic, orthopedic, pediatric, urology, gynecology, neuro/spine, podiatry, ophthalmology, thoracic, trauma, cardiovascular lab, GI, interventional radiology, bariatric, ENT, oral, and plastics cases
• Supports CVL cases requiring anesthesia including Watchman, TAVR, and EP procedures
• Occasionally preops ICU patients
• Follows ASPAN standards
• 4x10 hour day shifts scheduled from 0900-1930
• Weekend rotation required once every 4 weeks
• On-call required once every 4 weeks, including one primary and one secondary call shift
• Floating required, including to sister facilities
• Uses Epic for charting

Requirements

• Active WA state or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 1 year of PACU experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; PALS preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Level II Trauma Center experience preferred
• Skills required include airway assessment, care of ventilated patients, placement of oral/nasal airways, and administration of antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and narcotics/opioid analgesics
• Cardiac monitoring skills required including arterial line management and dysrhythmia recognition/management
• Experience with general and monitored anesthesia care (MAC) required; local anesthesia and nerve block experience preferred
• Experience with spinal anesthesia and post-epidural management required

Additional Information

• Provide PACU-level recovery care across a wide variety of surgical specialties and anesthesia types
• Facility follows a scrub policy allowing any color except reddish orange
• Parking is facility paid
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All RTO requests must be submitted upfront; minimal RTO preferred and holiday RTO discouraged
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates are not accepted
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they live outside the 50-mile radius
• Floating to sister facilities within the state may be required as part of the assignment
