Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a Level II Trauma Center night shift position requiring 3+ years of ED experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Emergency Department setting caring for all age ranges, general adult/pediatric combined
• Patient ratio of 1:4, up to 1:5 for lower acuity patients
• Average daily census of 140 with 46 beds
• Common diagnoses include chest pain, stroke, sepsis, cardiac arrest, trauma, and respiratory illness/arrest
• Special equipment includes Belmont rapid infuser for trauma, Giraffe warmer for neonates, and Lucas device for cardiac arrests
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:30-08:00)
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• Floating required within specialty as needed
• No scheduled on-call required

Requirements

• Active RN license, MD or Compact, required at time of consideration
• Minimum 3 years of ED experience required, 4-5 years preferred
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI, TNCC
• Epic charting system experience required
• Level II Trauma Center experience required
• Level I Trauma Center experience preferred
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and LTAC experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Travel experience preferred, though first-time travelers with 5+ years of experience will be considered

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care across a wide range of conditions including pediatrics, psychiatric emergencies, trauma, respiratory, and neurological cases
• Skilled in IV therapy, blood product administration, central line care, and phlebotomy
• Experience managing ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and interpreting ABGs required
• Administer emergency medications including vasopressors, sedation, and paralytics
• Manage stroke, CVA, and neuro-trauma cases including ICP monitoring and hypothermia protocols
• Level I and II Trauma Center, STEMI Certified, and Stroke Certified facility experience valued
• Skilled in triage, isolation precautions/PPE, and orthopedic splinting
• Candidates residing under 50 miles from the facility are not accepted unless otherwise stated
• Maximum of 7 days RTO may be requested; additional week required on new contracts if more than 4 consecutive days are requested
• Returning staff must have been separated from the health system for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• Returning travelers must have at least a 6-month break before starting a new assignment at this facility
• First-time travelers with 5+ years of ED experience will be considered
