Description

American Traveler is hiring a Critical Care Float RN for an ICU position requiring 3 years of experience and float coverage across ICU, PCU, MS, and ED.

Details

• Critical Care Float role based in the ICU with required floating to PCU, MS, and ED helping hands based on departmental needs
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-7:30
• Patient population includes ARDS, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, DKA, AKIs, UTIs, and acute shock
• Exposure to Cath Lab, TR bands, sheath pulls, EEGs, cardioversion, and stress tests
• Uses ventilators, Arctic Sun, and balloon pumps (rare, fewer than 3 cases in the last year)
• Cerner charting system used
• Must be able to manage higher patient ratios

Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Minimum 3 years of ICU experience required; candidates with 1.5+ years and strong PCU/ICU/MS experience will also be screened
• Strong PCU experience considered a plus
• RN degree must be from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
• 2 supervisor references required

Additional Information

• Resource Traveler role with floating required between ICU, PCU, MS, and ED based on hospital needs
• May also float to an affiliate hospital nearby
• Scrub color requirement: red top, black bottoms
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates are not accepted for this position
• Former IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Current or past IU Health travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment must complete a designated break to reset eligibility: 90 days for out-of-state residents or 180 days for in-state residents
• RTO requests of 5 days or less can be auto-approved
