Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Labor & Delivery/LDRP position requiring 2+ years of experience and NRP certification at a rural acute care facility.
Details
- Acute care setting within the LDRP department of a rural hospital
- 4 L&D beds and 7 postpartum beds
- Patient population includes >35 weeks gestation in labor and Mom/Baby couplets
- Follows AWHONN staffing ratios: Labor 1:1-2, Postpartum 1:2-3
- RNs required to titrate drips including Magnesium, Oxytocin, LR, and Zofran for labor patients, and Prenatal vitamin, Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen, Percocet, and Toradol for postpartum patients
- Charge nurse present on each shift and takes an assignment
- RNs troubleshoot neonatal RT equipment including CPAP, BiPap, and high flow
- Uses OB Trace Vue for EFM and MEDITECH for charting
- Day/Night rotating 12-hour shifts (7-7) with block scheduling
- Every third weekend required, with holiday coverage based on availability
- Floating required to MSP/ED, mostly for 1:1 patient sitting
- Surgery team manages C-sections; RN role is to circulate for the baby
Requirements
- Active RN license (ND state or Compact/NLC)
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of L&D nursing experience required
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
- Facility is located over an hour from the nearest NICU with limited additional services
- Success in this role benefits from strong teamwork, provider consistency, clinical knowledge, independence, and communication skills
- Unit orientation consists of three 12-hour shifts
- Scrubs are provided
- Clinicians with facial hair must pass a respirator fit test; inability to pass may result in contract cancellation if facial hair cannot be removed
- No clinical involvement noted for this position
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
- Up to 7 days of RTO may be requested upfront per 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved
