Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele - Orthopedic Spine position requiring 1+ years of unit experience and Epic proficiency at a Level I trauma center.
Details
- Adult 26-bed orthopedic spine unit specializing in spinal surgeries (laminectomies, spinal fusions, discectomies) with integrated pain management, physical therapy, and mobility support
- Patient diagnoses include Med/Surg, Tele, cardiac, low-risk ACS, TIAs, diabetes, hypertension, COPD, dehydration, chest pain, DVT, and PE
- Special procedures include bedside lumbar puncture, post-Cath care (radial/femoral), post-surgical care, post renal biopsy, CT Angio, and Heparin drips
- Patient ratio of 1:5-6
- Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
- Every other weekend requirement, approximately 6 weekend shifts over the assignment
- Floating to other qualified units or campuses required based on census needs
Requirements
- Active SC or compact multistate RN license required (pending licenses not accepted)
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Dysrhythmia certification preferred
- 1+ years of recent Med/Surg Tele or Orthopedic experience required
- 1 year of Epic EMR experience required
- Previous charge experience preferred
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide post-operative and telemetry care for orthopedic spine surgical patients including pain management and mobility support
- Located at a Level I Adult and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, the only designation of its kind in the Midlands region
- Weekly orientation held every Monday with annual compliance training required
- Pre-assignment testing and modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted subject to radius rule criteria
