Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a day-shift hospital role requiring active RN license (MT or Compact) and prior travel experience.
Details
- Medical Surgical unit within a hospital setting
- Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 AM-7:00 PM)
- Some weekend and holiday coverage required
- 13-week contract assignment
- No floating to affiliate hospitals unless agreed upon at offer
- Patient care includes IV therapy, blood product administration, PICC line management, and wound care
- Handles neurological/psychiatric and orthopedic patient populations including CVA and pre/post neurosurgery cases
- Administers medications including Heparin, Insulin, and PCA
- Utilizes cardiac monitoring and participates in Rapid Response/Code team response
Requirements
- Active RN license (MT or Compact) required
- BLS certification required
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required, with consideration given for strong neuro or ortho background
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
- Skills in peripheral line care, phlebotomy, and isolation precautions/PPE required
- References required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provides comprehensive care across Med/Surg, MS/Tele, respiratory, and orthopedic patient needs
- Manages surgical drains, peripheral nerve block catheters, and total joint replacement patients
- Administers oxygen therapy and non-invasive airway management as needed
- Candidates must live within 75 miles of the facility with no local rule accepted
- Former permanent employees must have a 2-year break in service before eligibility
- License or background check hits considered on a case-by-case basis
