Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical Oncology position requiring a CA license, BSN, and prior travel experience.

Details

• Medical Surgical Oncology unit in a teaching hospital setting
• 12-hour Day/Night rotating shifts (7:00-19:30 or 19:00-7:30)
• Rotations do not occur within the same week but may vary across a 4-week schedule period
• Patient ratio of 1:4 or 1:5
• Epic charting system required
• Floating to other UCSF facilities and departments required at any time, within a 75+ mile radius

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• BSN required
• AHA BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Prior travel assignment experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required and must be reflected in employment history
• 3 years of experience for charge role consideration
• OCN and ONS Certificate Course preferred
• Telemetry and ostomy experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, port access/management, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
• Experience administering and monitoring chemotherapy preferred
• Skilled in gastrointestinal care including bowel obstruction and colostomy/ileostomy management
• Skilled in respiratory care including chest tubes, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy management
• Experience with medication administration including heparin, insulin, and PCA
• Wound care/wound vac and isolation precaution/PPE knowledge required
• Surgical drain and plastics experience relevant to Med/Surg setting
• 2 professional references from most recent employer required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct oncology nursing care within a Med/Surg unit at a teaching hospital
• Any prior employment with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed in full employment history
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate as travelers
• All RTO must be disclosed and approved at the time of offer, with no additional requests accepted mid-contract
• RTO may not fall within the first two weeks of the assignment
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Married couples or travel pairs generally will not be placed on the same unit
