Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2+ years of ED experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• 43-bed ED including 8 unlocked Clinical Decision beds for Behavioral Health and 4 beds for FSED admissions/holding
• Average daily census of approximately 145 patients with a 25-30% admission rate
• General ED population spanning pediatric to geriatric patients including trauma stabilization, respiratory illness, stroke, behavioral health, acute MI, uncontrolled diabetes, and minor trauma
• RN to patient ratio of 1:3-4 based on acuity, with CNA support serving as Unit Coordinator
• 12-hour night shift schedule (7P-7A), 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend (EOW) rotation required
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Required to float within Region 2 including Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, any Freestanding ED in the region, and Central Division (CMC Main, CMC Mercy, Levine Children's Hospital)
• EPIC EMR system used
• Uses Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Phillips monitors, Rover communication, Panda Infant Warmer, and LUCAS device

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI certifications required
• TNCC certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ED experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• General ED skillset required including cardiac rhythm interpretation, critical care drips, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, and conscious sedation
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

• Facility has Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designations with no trauma designation and is not a teaching hospital
• Department supported by HCT/Unit Secretary (1:8-10 ratio), Paramedic, free-floating Charge Nurse, Patient Safety Attendants, dedicated ED Pharmacist (7A-11P), Social Worker, Scheduler, 24/7 RT, ED Physicians and APPs, Geriatric APP, and 24/7 Hospitalist and Intensivist coverage
• Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Travelers required to work 75% of holidays
• Navy blue scrub color required

• Unit culture described as welcoming, helpful, and busy
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates not accepted
• Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
