Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN - Pediatrics for a teaching hospital position requiring CA licensure, BSN, and Peds Med/Surg and Step Down experience.

Details

• Pediatrics unit within a teaching hospital setting
• Pediatric MedSurg and Pediatric Step Down patient populations, including neurologic and seizure disorder cases
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Day/Night 12-hour variable shifts (3x12), able to work a combination of days and nights within a 4-week scheduling period
• Must be willing to float to multiple facility locations as needed
• Must be able to work Christmas and New Year's holidays
• Epic charting system required

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required at time of consideration
• BSN required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• AHA BLS and PALS certifications required
• CPI certification preferred
• Peds Med/Surg and Peds Step Down experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required and must be noted in employment history
• Skilled in medication administration, anti-seizure medications, and emergency medications
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management, oxygen delivery systems, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with gastrointestinal care including feedings (bottle, breast, gavage), NG tube insertion/management, and breastfeeding support
• IV therapy and phlebotomy skills including central line blood draw, central/peripheral line care, and TPN/lipids management
• Experience with infection prevention and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with indwelling urinary catheter insertion/management, peritoneal dialysis/CAPD, and renal failure care
• Behavioral health experience preferred
• 2 professional references from most recent employer required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to pediatric patients in medsurg and step-down settings
• May be reassigned to a different department, unit, or facility within a 75+ mile radius during the assignment if qualifications are met
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travel candidates
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• All requested time off must be disclosed and approved by the manager at time of offer; no additional requests accepted mid-contract
• Time off may not be scheduled within the first two weeks of the assignment
• Any prior employment with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed, including dates worked, units, and manager names for rehire eligibility review
