Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift assignment requiring prior travel experience and AWHONN Intermediate certification.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit within a Level 1 nursery facility
• Cares for patients greater than 35 weeks gestation including pre-eclampsia, GDM, oligohydramnios, and GHTN cases
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Night shift schedule of 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Weekend and holiday rotation required
• Low census on-call requirements
• Floating to Postpartum unit as needed
• Centricity charting system experience preferred

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required in hand
• Current certifications: BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate (AWHONN Advanced preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in labor and delivery management including vaginal delivery assistance, C-section circulation, and high-risk delivery support
• Experience with fetal monitoring (external and internal) and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Proficient in newborn care including assessments, thermoregulation, and NAS care
• One supervisory reference from within the last year required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, and postpartum nursing care including medication administration such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
• Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and neonatal resuscitation as needed
• Support antepartum, postpartum, and newborn care including discharge teaching to parents
• Biweekly orientation schedule
• Scrubs provided
• Flu vaccination required with no exemptions or declinations accepted
• Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius at a reduced rate
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Candidates with prior permanent employment at Duke University Health System must not have been employed there within the last 6 months
• RTO requests limited to a maximum of 5-7 days
