Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2+ years of ER experience and an active NE or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care Emergency Department at a certified stroke center with 21 beds/trauma bays
• Patient ratio of 1:4 across all ages with diagnoses including chest pain, abdominal pain, cough/congestion, orthopedic injuries, ENT emergencies, sepsis, and stroke
• Common drips include antibiotics, narcotics, anti-emetics, vaccines, and emergency medications
• Uses EPIC EMR system
• 12-hour night shifts with rotating start times including 7a-7p, 11a-11p, 3p-3a, and 7p-7a
• Charge nurse present on each shift and takes an assignment
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required
• Smaller ER with limited specialty resources; patients are transferred out as needed

Requirements

• Active RN license (NE or Compact) required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS
• Driver's license required to confirm residence location
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Occasional willingness to cross-train for charge nurse role is preferred, though the night shift volume is not heavy
• Success in this unit favors nurses who are kind, compassionate, team-oriented, energetic, and positive with a can-do attitude
• Must complete a pass/fail open-book exam on skills learned during orientation, requiring a 90% score to continue in the role
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; refusal to remove them will result in contract termination
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility and may not have been employed full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-associated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
• Upfront RTO of 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract required; additional RTO requests will not be approved after submission
• Unit-specific orientation consists of 2 shifts
