Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele unit requiring BLS and PALS certification with peds experience preferred.

Details

• Acute care Med/Surg/Peds unit within a Critical Access Hospital
• 17-bed unit with 14 inpatient and 3 observation beds
• Patient population includes adults and pediatrics with common diagnoses of UTI, altered mental status, pneumonia, and COPD
• Nurse to patient ratio is 1:4 on days and 1:5 on nights
• Charge nurse present on each shift and takes an assignment
• Nurse aides/patient care techs available at a 2:15 ratio on days and 1 on nights
• Uses MEDITECH EMR
• 12-hour day shifts on a 7-7 schedule with self-scheduling
• Weekend shifts required as needed
• Floating to ED/ICU required for 1:1 patient assignments as needed
• RNs are not required to titrate drips
• No RT ventilator equipment on the unit; occasional BiPAP managed primarily by respiratory therapy
• Tele monitoring is read by ICU staff; unit nurses apply tele leads to patients

Requirements

• Active ND or Compact RN license required
• BLS and PALS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Peds experience preferred but not required
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a combined Med/Surg and Pediatrics unit
• Apply tele monitoring leads to patients as part of daily care
• Navy blue scrub color required
• Unit-specific orientation consists of one 12-hour shift, which may be split into one day and one night shift if needed
• Strong communication, motivation, and teamwork skills are important for success on this unit
• No holiday work requirement
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be requested upfront per 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved after submission
