Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU/Same Day Surgery position requiring VT or compact license and prior same day surgery experience.

Details

• Same Day Surgery Center within a critical access community hospital
• 8-bay unit seeing up to 17 patients per day
• Adult and geriatric patient population, ages 16 and older
• 2 operating rooms and 1 procedure room, primarily outpatient with limited inpatient procedures
• Day shift, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM, 32 hrs/week guaranteed with additional hours from call
• Call responsibilities 2-3 days/week and call required two weekends per month
• Role is mostly PACU but includes stepping into the OR to assist as needed
• Uses Cerner EMR

Requirements

• Active VT or compact RN license required prior to start
• Current BLS and ACLS certification (AHA)
• Minimum 2 years of Same Day Surgery experience required
• Experience working in a rural or outpatient facility required
• Admitting and discharge experience required
• Phase I and Phase II/PACU experience required
• IV start experience required
• Experience preparing the OR for surgery (pre-op), not just the patient
• Strong assessment, IV, and patient education skills required
• PACU/ICU experience preferred
• Travel nursing experience highly preferred

Additional Information

• Responsible for admission and discharge of surgical/procedure patients, including nursing admission assessments and Phase I and Phase II post-anesthesia care
• Must multitask well and communicate effectively with nursing and physician colleagues
• Strong time management and customer service skills essential
• Hospital-provided scrubs required
• Must work two holiday blocks if scheduled: Thanksgiving Day through the following weekend, Christmas Eve through Christmas Day and the following weekend, and New Year's Eve through New Year's Day and the following weekend
• Travelers may not take all holidays off
• No more than 5 days of RTO accepted, and all requests must be finalized prior to submission
• This is a rural community without public transportation, so candidates must have their own vehicle
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for this assignment
• 8 hours of non-billable orientation required
