Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a PICU position requiring 2 years of experience, an active AK RN license, and BLS/PALS certification.
Details
- PICU setting within an acute care Magnet hospital
- Pediatric floor ratios are 1:4; PICU ratios are 1:2, with ventilated patients typically 1:1
- Support staff includes CNAs and a med clerk; charge nurse typically carries no patient assignments
- Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM to 7:00 PM)
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required within scope to NICU and Peds units
- Block scheduling accommodated
- Cerner charting system used, with EPIC experience preferred
Requirements
- Active AK RN license required prior to start; compact license accepted at time of submittal
- Minimum 2 years of PICU nursing experience required
- BLS and PALS certifications required
- NRP certification copy required for consideration
- Experience with ventilator management, central line care, and pediatric dosage calculations preferred
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood products preferred
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level II experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Full 7-year work history with all employment gaps explained
- Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU, including ventilator and hemodynamic monitoring management
- Must be culturally sensitive to the Native population served
- Navy scrub color required
- Onsite orientation includes billable training modules averaging 4-5 hours, completed via HealthStream
- Annual completion of training modules required
- COVID vaccination acknowledgment required prior to consideration
- Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates not accepted
- Previous travelers must have a 2-year gap before returning to this facility
- No changes to contract terms (including RTO, start date, shifts) accepted once signed
