Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 2 years of recent telemetry experience and a Missouri or compact RN license.
Details
- MS/Tele unit within a hospital setting with a 30-bed census
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Night shift, 3x12 hours, 18:45-07:15
- 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule, combination of Fri/Sat/Sun
- Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments as needed per unit
- Regular floating required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Epic charting system
- Wide variety of intermediate-level care patients including stroke, heart failure, SI, ETOH withdrawal, respiratory failure, pneumonia, GIB, syncope, TIA, falls, renal failure, and post-surgical patients
Requirements
- Active RN license (Missouri or Compact) required, with both Kansas and Missouri licenses in hand at time of consideration due to floating requirements
- Current certifications: BLS and NIHSS required; ACLS preferred
- Minimum 1 year of experience required, 2 years preferred
- 2 years of recent specialty experience required, including a full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring including dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of rapid response/code teams
- Skilled in IV therapy including central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care/management, blood product administration, and starting/maintaining IVs
- Skilled in respiratory care including HFNC, ABG interpretation, nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
- Experience with feeding tube care/management and pre/post hemodialysis management
- Experience managing heparin protocols and cardiac drips without titration
- Experience with CVA and pre/post neurosurgery patients
- Skilled in isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
- Preferred skills include port access/management, BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, vasoactive drip management without titration, PCA management, traumatic brain injury care, ortho trauma and total joint replacement experience, and surgical drain care
- 2 professional references required, one supervisor level or above and one charge RN, both from within the past year
Additional Information
- Provide intermediate-level nursing care to a diverse patient population requiring cardiac telemetry and higher-level monitoring
- Work in a collaborative unit environment with charge RN responsibilities assigned as needed
- Maximum of 7 days RTO permitted, with all requests finalized prior to consideration
- No new RTO requests permitted after consideration or onsite offer
- Local candidates not accepted; home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
- Returning staff must have completed 18 months of prior service with a 3-month break; permanent BJC or Saint Luke's employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
