Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care/Telemetry unit requiring neuro stepdown experience and NC or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Work in an Intermediate Care (IMC) unit specializing in neurological stepdown and medical intermediate patients
- Patient ratio of 1:4 with unit maxing at 24 patients/beds
- 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15, with 36 or 48-hour weekly options available
- No call requirements
- Float to other intermediate areas such as PCTU or Cardiac Intermediate, as well as ICU/Stepdown critical care areas
- Weekend requirement of at least 3 shifts every six weeks
- Utilizes Epic EMR, Pyxis, and SBAR communication systsem
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required, pending license/certification accepted at submission
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required; CPI preferred
- Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
- Neuro stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, and Telemetry setting experience required
- Required skills include dysrhythmia interpretation/management, IV insulin protocol titration, feeding tube management, CBI, hemodialysis management, central/peripheral/PICC line care, blood product administration, cardiac and vasoactive drip titration, LEVO titration, and care of neurological conditions including craniotomy, CVA, TBI, and seizure disorders
- Respiratory skills required including BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator care, chest tube management, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care
- Wound care/wound vac and isolation precaution experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Preferred certifications: CCRN and TNCC
- Preferred skills include port access, phlebotomy, triage, ICP monitoring, conscious sedation, and charge nurse experience
Additional Information
- Provide intermediate-level nursing care to a sub-specialized neurological and medical intermediate patient population
- Must demonstrate a strong teamwork approach and meet facility behavioral expectations in all patient and staff interactions
- Adherence to the facility's call-off policy is strongly enforced
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start for this specialty
- Unit orientation consists of 32 hours, including an 8-hour computer class plus two shifts of unit orientation after initial hospital orientation
- Scrubs are not provided; any combination of navy blue and white is accepted
- Contract lengths of 16+ weeks up to a hard stop date are accepted to support the unit through the holidays
- Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
- RTO of 7 days or less may be auto-approved (excluding holidays); no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
- Previous Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before reapplying, with facility rehire approval required
- Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
- Travel pairs allowed if placed on different units
- Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between travel or per diem status
