Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with recent critical care experience to function as a Rapid Response nurse on nights, requiring an active NC or compact RN license.
Details
- Intermediate Critical Care Unit functioning as a Rapid Response unit
- Patient population includes DKA, sickle cell, sepsis, respiratory distress, pneumonia, heart failure, and stroke/stroke-like symptoms
- 1:4 patient ratio
- Night shift, 3x12 hours, 18:45-07:15
- 36 hours per week may be offered
- Floating required as needed to Med Surg at a 1:6 ratio
- Minimum of 4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
- Uses Bipap, Cpap, and Optiflow equipment
- Charting systems include Pyxis and Epic, with Epic experience required
- Self-scheduling balanced and approved by a staffer
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required (pending license accepted at submission)
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
- BLS and ACLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
- Epic charting experience required
- Skills required include IV starts, telemetry monitoring, titration of cardiac drips, use of rapid response teams, feeding tube management, heparin protocols, and PCA administration
- Preferred skills include MS/Tele experience, titration of vasoactive drips, care of ventilated patients, and wound care/wound vac
- Community hospital and teaching hospital experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required (pending references accepted at submission)
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
Additional Information
- Functions as the Rapid Response RN and may serve as the primary critical care nurse in a small community hospital setting
- Unit orientation is 36 hours, delivered on a weekly basis
- Scrub requirement is all navy or navy and white
- Must complete online pre-start modules (approximately 8-10 hours for acute care roles), with annual completion required
- First-time travelers will be considered for this position
- Travel experience is generally required, though first-time travelers may be accepted
- Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees (perm, PRN, or EP) must wait 12 months before applying, with facility approval required
- Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
- Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved if not falling on a holiday; no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
- Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
- Travel pairs are allowed if on different units with schedules disclosed
