Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a Level I trauma center requiring at least 2 years of combined adult/pediatric emergency department experience.

Details

  • Work in a 56-bed Emergency Department with an average daily census of 175 patients
  • Combined adult and pediatric ER patient population
  • Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 19:00-07:30
  • Required to work every other weekend
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • No floating outside the assigned unit required based on scope

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license required, or in application process with an ETA to obtain
  • Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC
  • AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI cards not accepted
  • Cerner EMR experience required
  • Combined adult/pediatric emergency department experience required
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring including dysrhythmia interpretation and management, 12-lead EKG acquisition, and multisystem organ dysfunction management
  • Experience with IV therapy and phlebotomy including blood product administration and IV starts
  • Experience administering emergency medications, continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation
  • Neurological case experience including CVA, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
  • Orthopedic splinting skills required
  • Pediatric case experience including abdominal pain, asthma, head injury, infections, poison ingestion, respiratory infection, seizures, skin disorders, and abuse identification/reporting
  • Psychiatric case experience including acute psychosis, drug overdose, managing violent behavior, and suicidal patients
  • Respiratory case experience including chest tube insertion/management and intubation
  • Proficient in isolation precautions and triage protocols
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated facility with 562 staffed beds
  • Provide emergency nursing care across a broad range of adult and pediatric cases including trauma, cardiac, respiratory, neurological, psychiatric, and orthopedic conditions
  • Floating required for all travelers, which may include floating within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities
  • Scrub color is any solid color
  • Parking permit required at no cost, completed during orientation
  • Previous permanent or PRN employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
  • RTO should ideally be no more than 5 days
  • Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
  • Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Travel pairs are not accepted
