Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Telemetry/PCU RN for a night shift assignment requiring an MD or compact RN license and prior travel experience.
Details
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting within a hospital
- Patient ratio of 1:3-4
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30)
- Weekend requirement of every third weekend
- Float requirement to units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Utilizes Cerner charting system
Requirements
- Active MD RN license or compact RN license required
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience within the last 7 years required
- Must have completed at least 1 prior travel assignment
- Cerner charting system experience required
- Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment
- Experience with telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response team utilization
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central/peripheral line and PICC line care, and blood product administration
- Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy management
- Experience with cardiac drip titration, heparin protocols, and post-MI/cardiac catheterization care
- Experience with renal failure and pre/post hemodialysis management
- Skilled in wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions
- Flu vaccine required
Additional Information
- Provide telemetry-based nursing care to PCU/stepdown patients including cardiac, renal, and post-surgical populations
- Manage cardiac and vasoactive drip titrations and monitor for dysrhythmias
- Support feeding tube care, insulin drip titration, and wound care management
- Navy blue scrubs (or navy blue pants with white top) required; scrubs not provided
- No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
- Maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract
- Returning MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
- Local candidates accepted within a 60-mile radius at a reduced rate
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
