Description

American Traveler is hiring an ED RN for a fast-paced community emergency department requiring 2 years of experience and an active RN license (MD or Compact).

Details

• General Emergency Department serving combined adult/pediatric patients, all age ranges from infant to geriatric
• Fast-paced setting with complex, multisystem diagnoses across all body systems
• Patient ratio of 1:4, up to 1:5 for lower acuity cases
• STEMI and Stroke Certified facility
• Rotating night/evening shifts, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (19:00-07:30 or 15:00-03:30), primarily night shift
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• Floating required within specialty and to sister ED facilities (Cambridge, Chestertown, Queenstown) as needed
• No pre-scheduled on-call shifts required
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active RN license (MD or Compact) required at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI (can complete during onboarding)
• NRP and TNCC preferred
• 2 years of ED experience required
• Previous charge experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Skilled in pediatric, psychiatric, respiratory, neurological, and cardiac emergency care
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management, intubation, chest tube insertion/management, and central line care
• Experience administering emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation
• Proficient in 12-lead EKG/ECG interpretation and dysrhythmia management
• Skilled in triage and isolation precautions/PPE protocols
• Able to apply splints and manage orthopedic injuries

Additional Information

• Provide emergency nursing care across all patient populations, including trauma, cardiac, respiratory, neurological, psychiatric, and pediatric cases
• Manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction or failure in a high-acuity environment
• Perform triage, initiate IV therapy, and administer blood products as needed
• Identify and report signs of neglect or abuse
• Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments and should be comfortable floating within scope without restrictions
• Candidates residing under 50 miles from the facility are not accepted unless otherwise specified
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Returning staff must have a 12-month break before returning as a traveler; returning travelers must have at least a 6-month break
• Maximum RTO request is 7 days; requests of more than 4 consecutive days require an additional week added to the contract
