Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool/ED Holding position requiring NC or compact license and prior travel experience.

Details

• ED Holding unit (EDIP) located within the Emergency Department supporting medical/surgical adult and PCU-level patients awaiting inpatient beds
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 1845-0715
• 36 and 48-hour contracts accepted
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required as needed to ED and MedSurg areas
• No on-call requirements
• Typical ratios of 1:6-1:7 for MS/Tele patients and 1:3-1:4 for PCU-level patients
• Uses Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR communication
• Utilizes standard equipment including cardiac monitors, IV pumps, and other monitoring systems
• 12-hour unit orientation provided

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact)
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required, CPI preferred
• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
• Prior MS/Tele and ER holding experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Experience with high acuity, fast-paced units and float assignments
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Ability to manage IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral lines
• Skills in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and telemetry required
• Experience with respiratory care, wound care, and various patient populations preferred

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care to medical/surgical, telemetry, and PCU-level patients within the ED Holding unit
• Float to ED and MedSurg areas as needed to support unit demands
• May be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or mass casualty situations
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Navy scrubs required
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Up to 7 days of RTO auto-approved per contract, excluding holidays and the first week of assignment
• No RTO allowed during first week due to orientation
• Travel pairs allowed if on different units with separate transportation
• Local candidates accepted at a lower rate within 50 miles of facility
• Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees must wait 12 months before reapplying as a traveler, with facility approval required
• Current per diem clinicians at the facility must choose between per diem or travel status
• First-time travelers are not specified as eligible; travel experience is required
