Description

American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Telemetry RN for a night shift assignment requiring 2 years of cardiac experience and a NC or compact RN license

Details

• Cardiac Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
• Patient diagnoses include Atrial Fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, valve disorders, endocarditis, cardiomyopathy, PVD/PAD, vasculitis, carotid stenosis, and venous stasis
• Cares for patients following procedures such as CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, Mitral Clip, LAAO (Watchman), VATS, carotid endarterectomy, FEM-POP bypass, amputations, and other vascular/cardiac/thoracic surgeries
• Also cares for post-cath, post-DCCV, and post-electrophysiology patients including pacemaker placements
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Uses equipment including Doppler, bladder scanner, EKG, femoral sheaths, TR band, Fem-Stop, chest tubes, and epicardial pacing wires
• Utilizes Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR communication systems
• Night shift schedule (3x12, 1845-0715)
• Weekend coverage required (4 shifts per 4 weeks)
• Floating required as needed
• No on-call responsibilities

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of cardiac nursing experience required
• MS/Tele or Step-down experience preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, arterial and central line management, peripheral line care, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), and nasal cannula use
• Experience managing and titrating cardiac drips
• Sheath removal and radial artery line experience preferred
• Wound care/wound vac experience preferred
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Additional Information

• Provide cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Deliver care for patients undergoing cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgical procedures
• Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Scrub requirement: navy blue pants with white top
• Unit orientation is 24 hours with weekly onboarding schedule
• Must complete required pre-start and annual online training modules
• May be assigned to Storm Team or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or mass casualty situations
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved (excluding holidays); no RTO allowed during first week of assignment
• First-time travelers considered only with more than 24 months of cardiac experience
• Local candidates accepted at a local rate
• Previous Novant Health or New Hanover employees (PERM/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before reapplying, with facility approval required
• Travel pairs accepted if assigned to different units with independent transportation
