Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Inpatient Rehab position requiring trauma rehabilitation experience and BLS certification at a Level I trauma teaching hospital.

Details

• Work in the acute inpatient rehab unit (4W Rehab) of a Magnet-designated, Level I trauma teaching hospital
• Patient population primarily includes traumatic spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and stroke patients, each comprising about one third of the caseload
• Unit also specializes in burn patients and patients with two or more amputations
• Cares for up to 2 ventilator-dependent patients at a time, typically with a weaning goal
• 4 Medical-Surgical beds available for acute care patients, with priority given to flap patients
• Patient ratios are 1:3 during days and 1:5 during nights
• Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within scope to meet facility needs
• No on-call responsibilities
• Uses Epic for charting

Requirements

• Active WA state or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required; CRRN certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required, with acute inpatient rehab work history preferred
• LTAC experience will also be considered
• Level I trauma experience preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred but not required
• Experience with IV therapy, blood glucose monitoring, tracheostomy care, feeding tube management, and wound care preferred
• Experience with lift/transfer devices and pressure ulcer assessment/prevention required

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to trauma rehabilitation patients including spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, burn, and amputation cases
• Assist with ventilator-dependent patient care and weaning protocols as needed
• Solid color scrubs permitted; light blue scrubs provided on unit
• COVID-19 vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restriction
• Minimal RTO accommodated; RTO cannot be requested during the first two weeks or orientation
• Prior UW staff must have a minimum 18-month separation before returning as a traveler
