Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Level 1 Trauma Center requiring 2+ years of recent ICU acute care experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

• ICU setting within a Level 1 Trauma Center
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• No block scheduling permitted
• Every other weekend required (2 weekends per month)
• Mandatory float facility - ICU RNs float between Burn ICU, CCU, Medical ICU, SICU, and Neuro ICU
• May be required to float to Med-Surg units to support staffing needs
• First week consists of orientation and a precepting shift on day shift
• Floating to other Cook facilities within 50 miles may be required with as little as 2 hours notice
• Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required in hand upon consideration (no pending licenses accepted)
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care ICU experience required
• Cerner charting experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, and central line care
• Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, and interpretation of ABGs
• Experience with ETT and NT suctioning
• Experience with continuous IV sedation and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• EndoTool experience preferred
• Two professional references required from supervisors within the past 2 years, from most recent employers
• Proof of COVID vaccination required with no exceptions

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care within the ICU including hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, and administration of critical care medications
• Floating is standard and frequent across all Cook facilities with no guaranteed home unit
• If floated outside primary competency, a team-based care model is used for support
• RTO limited to 5 days maximum with no more than 2 consecutive days, and no RTO on weekends
• No holiday RTO permitted, including the day before or after a holiday
• Contract may be subject to cancellation for call-outs on a holiday or refusal to float
• Returning resources must undergo full recredentialing and orientation, even after breaks of less than 30 days
• Local candidates accepted, with those living within 75 miles of the facility considered local
