Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for a Level II Trauma Center requiring MD or Compact RN licensure and prior travel or ED experience.

Details

• Level II Trauma Center Emergency Department serving all age ranges
• Average daily census of 140 with 46 beds
• Patient ratio of 1:4, up to 1:5 for lower acuity groups
• Common diagnoses include chest pain, stroke, sepsis, cardiac arrest, trauma, and respiratory illness/arrest
• Utilizes specialized equipment including Belmont rapid infuser, Giraffe warmer, and Lucas device for cardiac arrests
• Epic EMR experience required
• 3x12-hour evening/mid shifts (15:30-04:00)
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• Floating required within specialty as needed
• No scheduled on-call requirement

Requirements

• Active MD or Compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI, and TNCC certifications required
• Minimum 3 years of ED experience required, 4-5 years preferred
• Level II Trauma Center experience required; Level I Trauma experience preferred
• Travel experience preferred; first-time travelers with 5+ years experience will be considered
• Epic charting system experience required
• Skills in pediatrics, respiratory care, IV therapy, cardiac monitoring, and psychiatric emergencies required
• Experience managing multisystem organ dysfunction and interpreting dysrhythmias required

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care across a wide range of medical, surgical, pediatric, and psychiatric conditions
• Perform triage, EKG interpretation, splinting, and isolation precautions as part of daily responsibilities
• Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments within scope
• Candidates residing under 50 miles from the facility are not accepted unless otherwise specified
• Former staff must be separated from the health system for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• Returning travelers must have at least 6 months away from the system before reapplying
• Maximum RTO request of 7 days; additional week required on new contracts if requesting more than 4 consecutive days off
• First-time travelers with sufficient experience will be considered
