Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a Level 1 Trauma Center requiring recent ER/trauma experience and multiple advanced certifications.
Details
- Level 1 Trauma Center Emergency Department in an acute care hospital setting
- 60-bed unit including 14 fast track beds with bedside triage
- Patient ratios of 1:3-4
- Uses Cerner EMR
- Chest pain center and certified stroke center treating trauma, MVAs, GSW, blunt/piercing trauma, CVA, MI, high-risk OB, and psychiatric holds
- 11% pediatric population; patients under 15 are stabilized and transferred
- Approximately 80,000 ER visits per year
- Charge Nurse and Unit Secretary support on every shift
- Paramedics and CNAs assist with IV starts, discharges, and tech duties
- 24/7 Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy support, with an ER Pharmacist available 5 days/week
- Day and evening shifts with varying start times (7a, 9a, 10a, 11a, 1p) and some night shifts
- 12-hour shifts required, with flexibility to work all listed shift start times
- Every other weekend required, minimum 4 weekend shifts per schedule period
- Required to work 2 of 3 major holidays during the holiday season
- Float requirement between Chandler and Gilbert ER locations (7 miles apart), possibly including mid-shifts
- First to float among staff
Requirements
- Active AZ or Compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of recent ER/Trauma Level 1 experience required within the past year
- BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and ATCN or TNCC certifications required
- Moderate conscious sedation competency required
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of offer (maximum 2 attempts)
- Must pass a sterile technique skills lab on day 1 of orientation (maximum 2 attempts)
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
- Provide emergency nursing care across a high-volume, high-acuity trauma population
- Perform cardioversions and conscious sedation for closed fracture reductions
- Floor-specific orientation of 2-3 days
- Navy scrub color required
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year
- Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
