Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2 years of Level I/II Trauma Center experience at a large academic hospital and a NJ or compact RN license.

Details

• Urban academic acute care teaching hospital ED with a Residency Program
• 88 licensed treatment beds with surge capacity to approximately 125 patients
• Care for adult and pediatric ED, triage, STEMI, and stroke patients, plus observation and admitted boarding patients
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
• Patient ratios of 1:5+ with one hallway patient, occasionally increasing to 1:7-8 based on volume
• Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday)
• Must float to any area within skillset without exception, including ED boarding and observation areas
• May float between Paterson and Wayne campuses, approximately 12 miles apart
• Cerner/FirstNet charting preferred
• No blocked scheduling permitted
• Facility may call off up to 3 shifts per 13-week assignment

Requirements

• Active NJ or compact RN license required at time of submission
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC
• If TNCC is not held, proof of a scheduled class prior to start is required
• Minimum 2 years of ED experience required in a large academic designated Level I or II Trauma Center
• Experience with observation and admitted boarding patients preferred
• Prior travel experience required
• 2 professional references or evaluations required for consideration

• ED serves more than 168,000 patients annually, including a Level II Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and STEMI/24-hour cardiac catheterization program
• Dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department sees more than 40,000 pediatric visits annually
• Hunter Green scrubs (top and bottom) required
• Flu vaccine required
• Non-billable orientation modules totaling 4.5 hours completed during orientation
• RTO requests must be submitted with candidate profile; requests after submission are not accepted
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Local candidates within 50 miles are accepted, subject to a rate reduction
