Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU position requiring PACU/ICU critical care experience and a CO or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting in the Preop, PACU Phase 1, and PACU Phase 2 units
• 13 Preop beds, 19 PACU Phase 1 beds, and 5 Phase 2 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1 for pediatric or unstable patients, otherwise 2:1
• Common cases include ortho total joints and spine, OB/GYN, general surgery, urology, and endoscopy
• ICU patients may recover in PACU
• RNs are expected to read cardiac strips
• Uses Epic EMR
• Variable 10 or 12-hour day shifts staggered between 6a-10a
• Floating required within the unit between Preop and PACU Phase 1 and 2
• On-call required one night per week (1930-0730) and every 6th weekend
• Holiday on-call required for two holidays per year (24-hour shifts)
• Call response time is 30 minutes
• RT equipment used includes vents, Optiflow, BiPAP, and CPAP
• No nurse aides on the unit
• Charge nurse may take a patient assignment as needed

Requirements

• Active CO state or Compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• PACU or ICU critical care experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA) required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Driver's license copy required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Provide post-anesthesia and pre-operative nursing care across Preop, PACU Phase 1, and Phase 2 units
• Hybrid self-scheduling model with shift requests accepted but not guaranteed; no block scheduling
• Must wear blue scrubs; hospital-provided scrubs are worn on shift
• Unit-specific orientation focuses primarily on PACU with some Preop exposure
• Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility
• Candidates must be in-state for orientation week, even if initial modules are completed remotely
• Candidates cannot have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity Health, within the past year
