Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology Clinic RN for a day-shift outpatient position requiring 2 years of oncology experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Outpatient Oncology Clinic setting with 17 rooms
- Patient population includes infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
- Treats Head and Neck, Sarcoma, CNS, Thoracic, Pediatric, and GU cancer diagnoses
- Patients are currently receiving treatment and require symptom management
- Patient ratio of 1:15
- Day shift schedule, either 5x8-hour shifts (0800-1630) or 4x10-hour shifts (0700-1730 or 0730-1800)
- No weekend shifts required
- Floating required
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of Oncology Clinic RN experience required
- BLS certification required
- ACLS, OCN, ONS/ONCC, and PALS certifications preferred
- Prior charge RN experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Skilled in IV therapy, port access and management, and central line/PICC line care
- Experience with symptom management including nausea, neuropathy, edema, and altered mental status
- Experience caring for patients with various cancer diagnoses including breast, lung, brain, and GU cancers
- Radiation therapy and radiation safety precaution experience preferred
- Wound care, tracheostomy care, and phlebotomy skills preferred
- Experience with IV push narcotics and transdermal pain management preferred
- 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor and no coworker references accepted
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care including IV therapy, port and central line management, and symptom management for oncology patients
- Deliver psychosocial care including patient and family education, advanced directive discussions, and support
- Administer radiation therapy-related care and follow radiation safety precautions
- Perform pain management including IV push narcotics and transdermal patch administration
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Former employees eligible for assignment after 6 months away from the facility
- Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible for this travel position
- RTO must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
- Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract, either by traveling to an in-state location or completing a mailed fingerprinting packet
