Description
American Traveler is hiring a PCU RN for night shifts requiring 2+ years of PCU experience, EPIC proficiency, and skills in conscious sedation, ventilators, and telemetry.
Details
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown) setting within a hospital
- Cardiovascular and post-MI patient population, including endocrine/metabolic cases
- Estimated patient ratio of 1:3
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Every other weekend (EOW) required
- Float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
- EPIC EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/stepdown experience required
- Nursing education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Skills required: conscious sedation, ventilator management, and telemetry
- Additional respiratory skills: BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
- IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care/management
- Neurological/psychiatric care including CVA management
- Medication management including heparin protocols and cardiac/vasoactive drip management; titration preferred
- Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of rapid response/code teams
- Insulin drip titration experience
- 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or supervisor and the second from a Charge RN; no coworker references accepted
Additional Information
- First-time travelers welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
- Former employees eligible to return as travelers after 6 months away from the facility
- Current employees are ineligible to be hired as travelers at this health system
- RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
- Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to strict credentialing timelines
