Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring CA licensure and prior critical care experience.
Details
- Acute care ICU with 32 staffed beds (licensed for 40), set up in pods of 8
- 2:1 patient ratios
- Uses Cerner EMR
- 12-hour night shifts (1830-0700 and 0630-1900), every other weekend
- Charge Nurse does not take a patient assignment; a Resource RN may take patients
- Nurse Aide support typically available on day shift only
- No dedicated monitor techs - RNs read and interpret their own telemetry strips
- Manages drips including pressors, antiarrhythmics, and sedation
- Ventilator management required
- Hospitalist/Intensivist, Respiratory Therapy, and Pharmacy available 24/7
- Floating required to Tele and ED ICU/Tele holds, with travelers first to float
- Patient population includes higher-level neuro, cardiac, PCI, sepsis, ETOH, and stroke cases
- Manages Ventrics, TBI, and Camino ICP monitoring
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required (3 years preferred)
- Acute care hospital ICU experience required
- Cerner EMR experience
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
Additional Information
- Floor-specific orientation includes 8 hours with an ICU educator and 4 hours with a preceptor on Day 1, followed by 12 hours with a preceptor on Day 2
- Utilizes huddle report and bedside report
- Scrub color requirement: Navy Blue for RNs
- No acrylic nails or gel polish permitted during the assignment
- Holiday rotation required with core staff, with availability needed for 2 of the 3 major holidays
- First-time travelers may be considered
