Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level III-IV NICU position requiring 3 years of clinical experience and Epic proficiency, on a 12-hour night shift schedule.
Details
- Work in a 104-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit organized into 8-bed pods within a trauma level 1, teaching hospital
- Patient population includes 23-week micro-premies, VLBW infants, chronic lung disease, bleeds, spina bifida, diaphragmatic hernia, NEC, gastro cases, cleft lip/palate/mandible, PDA ligations, and body cooling patients
- Average patient length of stay is 40 days
- Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:3/4 based on acuity
- Ancillary support includes 1-2 PCTs per shift and on-site lab/tech services
- Advanced Practice providers present on the unit, with Respiratory Therapy and Anesthesia support available
- RTs manage ventilators
- Equipment used includes GE, Servo, Kangaroo Care, ECMO, Nitric Oxide, HFOV, Jet Vent (occasional), and IMV
- EMR is Epic; medication system is Pyxis
- 12-hour night shift schedule, 36 hours per week
- Floating required within the ICU cluster (NICU, PICU, CVICU, Burn ICU, IMU), with travelers floated first
- Scheduling is managed by the manager or scheduler; no self-scheduling
- No on-call requirements
- Every other weekend required
Requirements
- Active RN license (AR or Compact) required
- Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in a Level III-IV NICU required
- Level I or II NICU experience will not be considered
- NCC Neonatal ICU RN certification preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must pass a fit test (no facial hair permitted unless for religious beliefs)
- Must test negative for nicotine

- No charge for parking, and parents may room-in prior to discharge

- Dedicated multidisciplinary care team
- RNs should expect 2-3 days of orientation and specialty testing upon starting
- ACH dress code policy must be followed
- Holiday coverage required as needed
