Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Progressive Care Unit position requiring at least 2 years of cardiac PCU experience and NC/compact RN licensure.
Details
- 30-private bed Cardiac Medical Progressive Care Unit providing 24/7 care
- Rooms are remotely monitored by the Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Department (CCMD)
- Focus on cardiac patients including CHF, ACS, arrhythmias, pre/post cardiac catheterization, rule out MI, syncope, and pacemaker placement
- Secondary focus on respiratory conditions such as COPD, pneumonia, and BiPAP management
- Patient ratios of 1:4 with drips/BiPAP, otherwise mostly 1:5
- Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:30 AM
- Weekend rotation with holidays as needed
- Nurse Assistants available 24/7 and RN secretary support from 7 AM-11 PM
- EPIC EMR required
- May float to any Cone Health campus as needed
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required, NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, preferably in cardiac PCU setting
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Must pass a compliance EKG exam (two attempts allowed)
- Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Skilled in telemetry monitoring on the unit
- Skilled in management of peripheral and PICC lines
- Skilled in management of cardiac and vasoactive drips (titration preferred)
- Skilled in procedural sedation administration and monitoring
- Skilled in chest tube management (Emerson, Pleur-evac)
- Skilled in external CPAP/BiPAP and tracheostomy management
- Previous Charge RN experience preferred
- Experience with Rapid Response Teams preferred
- Valid driver's license required for address verification
Additional Information
- Provide direct nursing care to cardiac and respiratory progressive care patients
- Staff are scheduled for a 6-week period via a self-assisted scheduling system based on departmental need and patient acuity
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; no local candidates within this radius accepted
- RTO requests must be submitted with the application; no post-submission RTO accepted
- Background checks must show no open cases
- Education verification required through a third party
