Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and Epic charting proficiency.
Details
- Labor and Delivery unit with 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
- Patient population includes labor, preterm labor, and high-risk antepartum cases
- Facility averages 200-300 births per month
- Responsibilities include circulating, OB-GYN, post-op, pre-op, scrub duties, low risk antepartum, and low risk L&D care
- Staffing ratio of 1:1 to 1:3
- Floating required to Post-Partum and possibly L&D at a sister facility
- Performs special procedures including blood/blood product administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, cooling/warming blankets, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, and wound vac management
- Administers medications including heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, FHM, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate
- ACLS certification preferred
- Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood and blood product administration, central line maintenance (CVC/PICC), anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensive administration, insulin drip management, and magnesium sulfate therapy
- Experience with high-risk delivery assistance, C-section circulation and recovery, sterile vaginal exams, and epidural anesthesia support required
- Experience with fetal monitoring, IUPC placement and calibration, and antepartum/postpartum care required
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required for consideration
Additional Information
- Attends all deliveries including high-risk deliveries and assists with GYN surgeries
- Provides couplet care and supports low-risk antepartum and transition nursery patients
- Teaching hospital environment with strong staff camaraderie, including book clubs and group dinners
- Holiday coverage required for 1 of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas/Eve, New Year's/Eve)
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility unless applying as a local candidate
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
- Floating between sister facilities within the region may be required
