Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift assignment requiring 2 years of L&D experience, Epic proficiency, and WA or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Labor and Delivery unit with 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms
  • Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Patient population includes labor, preterm labor, high risk antepartum, and low risk antepartum/L&D cases
  • Staffing ratio of 1:1 to 1:3
  • Responsibilities include circulating, OB-GYN, pre-op/post-op, and scrub duties
  • Attends all deliveries including high risk deliveries and GYN surgeries
  • Provides couplet care and transition nursery support
  • Facility averages 200-300 births per month
  • Uses specialized equipment including epidural pumps, PCA pumps, syringe pumps, and IUPC placement
  • Performs procedures such as blood/blood product administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, and wound vac care
  • Administers medications including heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate
  • Floating required to Post-Partum and possibly L&D at a sister facility
  • Accepts 13 or 26 week contract lengths

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Certifications required: BLS, FHM, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate
  • ACLS certification preferred
  • Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy and administration of blood and blood products
  • Experience maintaining central lines (CVC/PICC)
  • Skilled in anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, insulin drips, and magnesium sulfate therapy
  • Experience assisting with high risk deliveries and circulating/recovering for C-sections
  • Skilled in sterile vaginal exams, fetal monitoring, and IUPC placement/calibration
  • Experience with epidural anesthesia and PCA (IV) pain management
  • Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE, antepartum and postpartum care, and wound assessment
  • 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required

Additional Information

  • Teaching hospital environment with a strong emphasis on staff camaraderie, including book clubs and group dinners
  • May request up to 2 of 3 major holidays off (Thanksgiving, Christmas/Christmas Eve, New Year's/New Year's Eve), with only 1 required
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
  • Former permanent employees of other Providence facilities (non-Swedish) are eligible after a 3-month separation and must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
  • All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront during the application process
  • Travelers may be required to float to sister facilities within the system
