Description
American Traveler is hiring a Labor and Delivery RN for a night shift position requiring CA RN license and 2+ years of L&D experience.
Details
- Labor and Delivery unit with 24 beds and a census of 150-180 births per month
- Patient population includes neonates, adolescents, and adults
- Staffing ratio of 1:2
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:30)
- Floating required to Post Partum and Nursery units
- Call required once every two weeks
- Weekend requirement of 7-9 shifts per 6-week scheduling period
- Unit utilizes Omnicell, Epic, and SBAR systems
- Scrubs provided
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery/Antepartum experience required (3 years preferred)
- Required certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, BLS, NRP, FHM
- Required skills: circulating, triaging, newborn care, Magnesium and Pitocin administration, SVE, recovery, postpartum care, heel stick, hyperbilirubinemia management (TCB/TSB), discharge instructions, car seat education, blood transfusion, and circumcision care/assist
- Epic EMR experience required
- Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy and administration of blood & blood products
- Experience starting and maintaining IVs
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn care stages
- Perform fetal monitoring, including recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and IUPC placement/calibration
- Support VBAC management and trial of labor patients
- Assist with cesarean section circulation and recovery
- Provide breastfeeding and lactation support following baby-friendly protocols
- Charge experience preferred
- First-time travelers welcome to apply if experience requirements are met
- Candidates with extensive travel experience may be considered with 2-2.5 years of experience
- Schedules are built 6 weeks at a time with no block scheduling available
- Call shifts are included in the posted schedule, with additional volunteer call sign-up available
