Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift hospital position requiring an active MI RN license and at least 1 year of Med/Surg experience.
Details
- Medical Surgical unit caring for a mix of medical and surgical patients, including ortho/neurovascular, cardio/pulmonary, GI, urology, hysterectomy, and mastectomy cases
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- 36 or 48 hour work weeks available
- Every other weekend required
- Floats to other Med Surg units roughly once per week, with travelers floating first
- Staffing ratio of 1:5-6 for nights, which may flex to 1:7-8 with LPN support
- Works alongside a variety of staff including RNs, LPNs, and techs
- Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed or approved
Requirements
- Active Michigan RN license required
- BLS (AHA) required; pending certification may be accepted
- Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg experience required, 2 years preferred
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
- Previous charge experience preferred
- Proof of flu vaccination required with consideration, or exemption request submitted within 48 hours of signing
- Supervisor-level references required
Additional Information
- Must be available for the first 2 weeks of the assignment for orientation
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restriction
- Candidates residing 50 miles or less from the facility qualify for the local rate
- Previous internal travelers may return after 6 months; previous permanent staff may return after 1 year
- RTO limited to no more than 10 days during the assignment
- Annual and orientation modules are self-reported and completed as 8 non-billable hours
- Opportunity to provide care alongside nursing students
- Skills in IV therapy, wound care, respiratory management, and cardiac monitoring are valued across unit specialties
